Here is a 1930/40's Spalding J5-V pigskin leather Intercollegiate Football , in very fine shape and still with it's original Bladder that holds good air pressure .
The center lacing is good and tight , and surrounding it is the trademark circular Spalding identification noting the ball to be an official college ball . Below that is the J-V marking , which identifies the period in which this type of ball was used , and to the right of that are imprinted the words ' Lock Stitched ' which further research could well pin down the manufacturing time period much more accurately .
All leather panels are in excellent condition considering the 90 or so years of the life of this ball .
The two panels above and below the laced panel have faintly seen imprints , seemingly professionally done ~ that mark either the names of colleges competing on that occasion , or perhaps the identity of the winning team or their coach ~ or even their Quarterback .
These types of balls are not easy to find these days ~ particularly in this kind of condition . They were used by the top colleges of the day , and seem to be highly sought for today .
On various Football memorabilia Auction sites they appear to always sell for high prices .
This particular Football is offered for the very reasonable price of $175.00 . Please feel free to call me if interested , in Victoria ,British Columbia at 250-382-8185 ~ or reply here .
Thanks , Mike
